International Classroom: Meeting with the Director General for International Economic Relations

1 Jul 2016

Presentation

CEI International Affairs invites you to join us on 13 April for a talk-discussion and private lunch with Mr Fernando Eguidazu, Director General for International Economic Relations at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The last twenty years have witnessed a dramatic increase in Spanish foreign investment. More than 60% of the turnover of IBEX 35 companies originates outside Spain, and in some cases this figure is as high as 90%. Foreign direct investment by Spanish companies stands at around €477 billion.

Economic relations lie at the heart of Spain’s presence in many countries. It is important for the Spanish foreign service to adapt to the new situation and for ambassadors and consuls to be in permanent contact with companies in order to help and support them in their internationalisation processes. What can Spanish diplomacy do in this regard?

We will answer this and many other questions at the next session of the International Classroom programme, which will feature a special guest and will focus on ‘Spanish economic diplomacy’ as one of the main policy instruments of Spanish external action.

Come participate in a face-to-face discussion with one of the most influential voices in Spain’s economic diplomacy, who will explain the different perspectives of Spanish economic diplomacy and how it interacts with companies.
