The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) is a forum that brings together 27 EU Member States and 16 non-EU states from the southern and eastern Mediterranean. All of these states participated in the Barcelona process, which was launched in 1995 with the aim of reorienting relations between the EU and its neighbours.
One decade into the process, this volume asks how the UfM should be approached. To this end, it seeks to encourage reflection on the nature of the UfM and the challenges posed by the Mediterranean in the context of the Arab Spring, migration, environmental degradation and multicultural dialogue.
