Ángel J. Rodrigo
A tenured professor of Public International Law and International Relations at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona, he holds a master’s degree in Comparative Law from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a PhD in Law from UPF. He has taught on sustainable development at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales of the Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). He is the author of numerous publications, including, amongst others, El desafío del desarrollo sostenible. Ana G. Juanatey
Ana García Juanatey is a professor at CEI International Affairs and an adjunct professor at UPF. She holds a PhD in Public International Law (UPF, 2016) and wrote her dissertation on the relationship between sustainable development and the human right to food. She has been a visiting researcher at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO, 2015). She has worked at the Barcelona Institute of International Studies, the Human Rights Institute of Catalonia and the European Union’s Fundamental Rights Agency and has done consulting work for the World Bank and Barcelona City Council, amongst others. |

Andrea Noferini
Andrea Noferini holds a Ph.D in Politics and Economics of Developing Countries, Universitá degli Studi di Firenze, he is profesor of the CEI International Affairs. He is also adjunct professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. His research areas converge in the study of public policies and institutional reforms in Europe and Latin America. His studies deals with mechanisms for participation of regional and local administrations in EU policy-making, the evaluation of public policies, territorial cooperation, cohesion policy, institutional and administrative capacity building and decentralized cooperation. |
Lela Mélon
University professor and consultant specialized in commercial and sustainable law and EU law. She holds a degree in economics and law, an LL.M. from Maastricht University and a PhD in Business Law from the University of Aberdeen, with a thesis studying the relationship between sustainability and business law. She teaches at ESADE and ESSEC Paris, with close contact with the private market and sustainability challenges beyond the academy. She carries out the EU-funded “Sustainable Company” project, has extensive knowledge of sustainable public procurement, sustainable corporate conduct and sustainability in higher education. |

Humberto Llavador
Professor in the Department of Economics at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), affiliated professor at the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics (BGSE) and researcher at the Institute of Political Economy and Governance (IPEG). PhD in economics from the University of California-Davis, he has been a visiting professor at Yale University, the Grantham Research Institute (London School of Economics), INSEAD-Singapore and Korea University. He has also been a member of the School of Social Science of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton. Her research focuses on issues of climate change economics, political economy and welfare economics, with publications in prestigious international magazines, such as the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Public Economics, Theoretical Economics, AEJ: Microeconomics or Climatic Change. In 2012, he received the Jaume Vicens-Vives Award from the Generalitat de Catalunya for teaching quality and innovation, and in 2016 he received the X Prize of the Catalan Society for Economics for the book Sustainability for a Warming Planet (Harvard University Press). |

Laura Talens
Chemical engineer, Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and the University of Teesside. She has a PhD and Master in Environmental Science and Technology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Since 2017 she is a researcher at ICTA UAB. In his research, she uses methodologies from the field of industrial ecology such as material and energy flow analysis, life cycle assessment, exergy analysis, and ecodesign, among others. It has an important history of articles published in indexed journals, conferences, technical reports, and a multitude of dissemination activities. Furthermore, he also has teaching experience in industrial ecology at various universities: UAB, UPV and Vrijeit Universiteit Brussels (VÜB). In 2018, she was selected as one of the 300 leaders in circular economy by the COTEC foundation and the Advanced Leadership Foundation (ALF). |

Marta Galcerán
Political scientist, researcher in international relations at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and senior consultant to Anteverti, where she has led projects by UN-Habitat, the European Union or the Inter-American Development Bank. She is currently the coordinator of the Smart City Expo World Congress program. Her research revolves around city diplomacy, global governance and sustainable development. |

Jordi Quero
Jordi Quero holds a PhD in Public International Law and International Relations (September 2020), and he is a professor at CEI International Affairs. He has worked as a researcher at CIDOB and as a professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals. He was a visiting researcher at the American University of Beirut. He has a Master in History of International Relations from the London School of Economics and a Master in International Affairs from Columbia University. His research areas include the international relations of the Middle East and the Theory of International Relations. |

Gonzalo Saénz de Miera
Director of Climate Change in the Iberdrola Chairman Area. PhD in Applied Economics from the Autonomous University of Madrid, outstanding “Cum Laude”, and MSC in International Economic Policy from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom). Institutional Vice President of the Spanish Association for Energy Economics and Vice President of the Spanish Group for Green Growth. It develops an intense teaching, research and dissemination activity in the field of energy and the environment. Professor at several universities (Pontifical University of Comillas, Antonio de Nebrija University, etc.) and director of the Master of Energy Business at Enerclub. He is also a member of the Board of Economics for Energy, the Academic Council of the Spanish Energy Club and the Business Council of the International Energy Agency.
Laia Bonet
Deputy Mayor for the 2030 Agenda, digital transition, sports, territorial and metropolitan coordination at the Barcelona City Council. Jurist and professor of Administrative Law (at the Pompeu Fabra University) and Communication Law (Blanquerna- Ramon Llull University). She was secretary of the government of the Generalitat of Catalonia in the period 2007-2010, and deputy in the Parliament of Catalonia between 2010 and 2012, period in which she was deputy spokesperson for the socialist parliamentary group in the Parliament of Catalonia.
Miquel Rodríguez Planas
Commissioner of the 2030 Agenda of the Barcelona City Council, from where he works to comply with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that the UN has designed. Degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has completed a Master in Information and Knowledge Management for Organizations from the UOC and a Master in Public Management from ESADE-UAB-UPF. Since 2015 and until 2019 he has been Director of the Public-Private Collaboration research centers of the IESE business school (PPSRC and PPP for Cities). He has also participated in the preparation of a methodology for evaluating the SDGs at the level of public concession contracts and in the analysis of the same in different contracts.
Júlia Gassol
Industrial engineer from ETSEIB (UPC) and an MSc in Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability, specializing in Industrial and Urban Ecology, from UAB. She works as a consultant at Inèdit Innovació carrying out projects that accompany companies and institutions in their transition towards a circular economy through environmental quantification, ecodesign of products and services, analysis of the supplier supply chain or environmental management systems ISO, among others.
Alexis Roig
Alexis Roig expertise cuts across the fields of diplomacy, science, technology, and global cities. Mr. Roig currently serves as CEO of SciTech DiploHub. He is also a Professor at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and has over 10 years’ experience as senior advisor on science diplomacy for ministries of Foreign Affairs, Science, Research, and Education across Asia and Europe. Mr. Roig holds a master’s in Computer Science from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, an MBA from Ecole de Management de Normandie, and a Postgraduate degree in Diplomacy from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research.
Joan Rieradevall Pons
Scientific advisor to the Sostenipra group of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, partner of the spin off Inèdit and promoter of the Spin Off Urban Agriculture TECTUM GARDEN. Doctor in Chemical Sciences (Chemical Engineering), 1992 UAB. Master Management Management, 1990 EADA. Diploma in Environmental Engineering. Ministry of Industry and Energy and Ministry of Universities and Research. 1981. Research in the area of environment: urban systems Analysis of the life cycle of products, processes and services, waste treatment, environmental planning and management, ecodesign and energy use of biomass and ecology and urban agriculture. More than 150 indexed articles (H38 and more than 4500 citations). About 150 scientific and technical articles, 20 books and book chapters in the environmental area.
Constanza Sánchez Avilés
Political scientist and PhD in Public International Law and International Relations from Pompeu Fabra University. She is currently the Director of Law, Public Policy and Human Rights at the ICEERS Foundation. She has been a researcher and professor of International Relations at Pompeu Fabra University (2007-2013), a visiting researcher at the University of Miami (2010) and the University of San Diego (2012) and a researcher at the Global Observatory on Drug Policies in United Kingdom (2013). He has done fieldwork in Europe, Peru, the United States, Mexico, Colombia and the Mexico-United States border. He regularly participates in the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Karlos Castilla
Lawyer, National Autonomous University of Mexico, Doctor of Law from the Pompeu Fabra University. Professor of constitutional law, international law and human rights at the universities of Barcelona, Oberta de Catalunya and Pompeu Fabra. Principal investigator of the Institut de Drets Humans de Catalunya.
Agustí Fernández de Losada
Senior researcher and director of the CIDOB Global Cities Program; Senior consultant specialized in urban and territorial governance, public policies, global agendas and international cooperation. He is also an urban adviser to the Cities Alliance, an expert in the Eurosocial + Program and vice-president of the Interarts Foundation. During his 25 years of professional career he has worked for different international organizations, governments and other public and private institutions. For years he was director of international relations for the Barecelona Provincial Council, promoter and general coordinator of the Observatory of Decentralized Cooperation EU-LA and general coordinator of the Coordination and Orientation Office of the URBAL III Program of the European Commission. He has a degree in Law and a Master in European Studies from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
Raquel Alcega
Raquel Alcega leads Devex Analytics, the development data team, which tracks and analyzes the funding, programs and activities of financial institutions, philanthropic organizations and corporations that operate at the intersection of business and global development. Prior to joining Devex’s Barcelona office, she worked in business development in Washington, D.C., and as a researcher in Russia and Mexico.
Miguel Ángel Elizalde
PhD in Public International law and is a professor at CEI International Affairs. An academic consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank and collaborating teacher on World Intellectual Property Organization courses, he is the author of multiple papers and monographs on the relationship between the multilateral trade system and multilateral agreements on the environment, foreign investment, and treaty law, amongst other topics.
Marie Vandendriessche
Senior researcher at EsadeGeo Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics (Barcelona / Madrid). Her research, which focuses on global governance and geopolitics of energy and climate change, has been published by the Energy Security and Climate Initiative of the Brookings Institution (Washington DC) and the Florence School of Regulation of the European University Institute. He has a Master in International Relations from IBEI (Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals) and has received executive training at the Academy for Global Governance of the European University Institute (Florence). She is currently researching the global governance of the nexus between energy and climate change in the UAB’s Doctorate Program in Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations.
Charles Roger
Charles Roger is an Assistant Professor and Beatriu de Pinós Research Fellow at IBEI. His research explores the transformations occurring in our system of global governance and how these are shaping our ability to address cross-border problems. Charles’s research has been published in journals like Global Policy, International Interactions, International Studies Quarterly, and the Review of International Organizations. In addition, he has worked with the United Nations and other organizations in various consulting roles, including as a member of the UN High-Level Expert Group on Climate Change, Energy and Low-Carbon Development in Africa and as a contributing author of the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
